Patrick M. Ladage, OD, PhD, FAAO
Dr. Patrick M. Ladage graduated with a Bachelor degree of Optometry from the Hogeschool van Utrecht, The Netherlands in 1995. In 2002, he obtained a Doctor of Philosophy in Vision Science (thesis work on extended contact lens wear) and four years later, he graduated summa cum laude with a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston, College of Optometry.
Dr. Ladage has completed optometric externships at Lens, Arnhem, the Netherlands (specialized in gas permeable and soft contact lens fitting), the CCLRU, Sydney, Australia (contact lens research center), Houston Eye Associated, Houston under Dr. John Goosey, MD (anterior segment/corneal specialist) and Hermann Eye Center, Houston under Dr. Judianne Kellaway, MD (retinal specialist). He has also participated as a researcher in three FDA trials on silicone hydrogel and gas permeable extended contact lens wear at UT Southwestern medical center in Dallas, Texas.
Over the years, Dr. Ladage has been a reviewer for several optometric and ophthalmological journals including Eye and Contact lens, Cornea, Optometry and Vision Science, Investigative Ophthalmology and Vision Science. He has published over 30 articles and lectured nationally and internationally on the topics related to contact lens wear. His awards include the William C. Ezell fellowship by the American Optometric Foundation (2000-2002), “Excellence in graduate teaching” award (1998) and “Outstanding graduate student” award by the University of Houston (1999); student travel fellowships to the meetings of the American Academy of Optometry (1997), Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (sponsored by the American Optometric Association, 2000) and the International Society of Contact Lens Research (2001).
Dr. Ladage is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and member of the American Optometric Association and Texas Optometric Association. He is licensed to practice as a therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist in Texas. His interests include comprehensive eye care and specialized contact lens fitting (gas permeable lenses particularly).
